The SAGeocachers are pleased to announce the 3rd annual "Fall Fest" Geocache Bash (GC277MM) - formerly the Cheboygan County Fall Geocache Bash.

About The Event

This event will be a combined outing for both new and seasoned cachers alike. It will feature a Geocaching 101 class to introduce newcomers to this wonderfully fun (and addictive) hobby. There will be poker runs, a closest to the pin contest, raffles, AND many new caches to be published that day, with some great First To Find (FTF) prizes. And we'd be remiss not to mention the all important food and beverages. Also, if you have path tags, bring them along for potential trades.

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. At the registration table you will receive your raffle ticket, closest to the pin flag (with instructions), and a listing of all the new permanent caches in the area. Note: There will be only one closest to the pin flag issued per team. Plenty of volunteers will be on hand following the Geocaching 101 class to assist and work with newcomers.

There will be many new permanent caches placed in the area for this event along with the already approx.; 160 existing caches within a 10 mile radius. We will have cache loading computers available to load your GPSR units with all the local caches, so bring your USB cords for your GPS!

After a fun-filled day of "hunting" we will regroup at 4:00 p.m. for awards, prizes and to quell those hunger pains.

The SAGeocachers will provide:

Hot Dogs
Condiments
Beverages
Paper and flatware

Requested dishes to bring by last name:

A – F: Snack Tray e.g. cheese & crackers, vegetable tray, fruit tray etc.
G – M: Salad/Side e.g. macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans, taco salad etc.
N – Q: Chips and dips
R – Z: Deserts e.g. cake, cookies, brownies etc.

Event Outline

9:00 am - Open registration table and begin selling raffle tickets, 50/50, ping pong balls for race
9:30 am - Begin loading GPSr’s for attendees and hand out coordinate (new cache) sheets
10:00 am - Attendees go afield to start caching
10:00 am - Geo 101 begins
11:00 am - GSAK 101 begins
3:00 pm - Reassemble attendees to begin games
4:00 pm - Dinner served at the hall. Hold drawings / prizes

Local Lodging Discounts

If you'd prefer to stay at a hotel instead of camping, SAG has made arrangements with 2 local hotels. 1 of them is the Crooked River Lodge in Alanson along US 31 at a rate of $79.00/night and the other is The Inland House, located in Conway on US 31 and Crooked Lake at $70/night. Both are no more than 10-15 minutes from Camp Petosega.
